Today marks the last day for filing nominations for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 9, covering 21 states and union territories. The Election Commission announced the voting schedule for the 18th Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on March 16, with polling set to take place in seven phases across 28 states and 8 union territories until June 1, followed by vote counting on June 4. The first phase encompasses 102 constituencies, with nomination deadline ending today for 98 seats, while Bihar's four seats have a nomination deadline of tomorrow, March 28.

In the first phase, voting will be conducted in various states including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry. Notably, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar are among the states where voting will occur across all seven phases. The first phase will see voting on 102 parliamentary seats, with subsequent phases covering varying numbers of seats, culminating in the seventh phase with voting on 57 seats.
